In 2004, we launched our bulk tea and herb shop, The Secret Garden, in Downtown San Luis Obispo, with a mission to revive plant medicine. For nearly two decades, we operated from an enchanting wooden lean-to, adorned with hundreds of mason jars, nestled within a magical garden by the creek, where trees grew through the roof.
In October of 2024, we moved into a dreamy indoor sanctuary on the fringes of downtown, enabling us to expand our offerings. Alongside this evolution, we embraced a new business name that better reflects our growth and purpose. Secrets Of The Garden honors our cherished legacy of teas while inspiring a deeper exploration of the remarkable healing powers of nature.
Our founder, Kirstin Sherritt, a California native and folk herbalist, has 20 years of expertise in crafting custom tea recipes and providing formulation consultations for individuals, restaurants, and beverage companies. She envisioned and built a loose-leaf tea and herb company that nurtures community through the connection between people and plants, offering knowledge, access, and inspiration to incorporate traditional uses of herbs, spices, and loose-leaf teas into contemporary lifestyles.
